Davida Loren Haywood, PhD serves as the Vice President of Student Affairs and Campus Engagement at 星空无限传媒 (JCSU). In this capacity, she is responsible for developing a comprehensive program of student support and engagement services for traditional, non-traditional, evening/online and graduate students in the areas of Career and Postgraduate Readiness, Counseling Services, Dean of Students, First-Year/Second-Year Experience and Parent & Family Relations, the HealthPlex, Atrium Health JCSU Health Center, Health and Wellness, Housing and Residence Life, Living and Learning Communities, Spiritual Life and Community Service, Student Conduct, Student Leadership and Engagement and Veterans and Military Affairs. Always committed to the holistic development and
transformational experiences of students, Davida earned a B.S. in Business Administration (summa cum laude) from 星空无限传媒; and, a M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs and Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Higher Education from The Ohio State University. Her dissertation, 鈥(Re)inventing in the 鈥楧ark鈥: African American Women and Presidential Leadership,鈥 won the William E. Loadman Most Outstanding Dissertation Award from the then School of Educational Policy and Leadership in 2010. Dr. Haywood possesses twenty-six years of executive and administrative experience from an array of institutions of higher education, including her undergraduate alma mater, Livingstone College, Capital University, The Ohio State University and Alabama State University. Over the course of her two-decade plus career, Davida has acquired extensive experience in strategic planning; fundraising and stewardship; and, assessment and evaluation. In addition, she has taught undergraduate and graduate courses on leadership and service-learning, diversity, and case studies in higher education at The Ohio State University. In fall 2021, she co-taught a unique on-line course entitled Current Issues in Higher Education, which focused on the history, as well as current and future realities of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, at Wilmington University. She has also served as a Special Member on the Graduate Faculty at the University of Toledo. Her research interests, papers and presentations often focus on women of color and their participation in higher education; organizational, administrative, and executive leadership; critical race feminism; racial and gender identity development; and, service-learning. Her most recent book chapter entitled, 鈥淵ou Forgot Your Pearls and Gloves: A Meditation from a Vice President of Student Affairs,鈥 appears in Tomlin et al. (2022), Working While Black: The Untold Stories of Student Affairs Practitioners. Recognized as one of Columbus, Ohio鈥檚 and Charlotte, North Carolina鈥檚 Who鈥檚 Who, a Black Leaders and Legends and NASPA鈥檚 African American Knowledge Community 鈥淪tellar 50,鈥 Davida was the 2014-2015 President-Elect for the Ohio Consortium of Multicultural Centers in Higher Education. She also holds memberships in the American College Personnel Association, National Association of Student Affairs Professionals, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. During the summer of 2016, she was selected as a Program Fellow by the Higher Education Leadership Foundation. Similarly, she received certificates in Leadership and Advocacy (Advancing to the Presidency-American Council on Education), Executive Leadership (On the Road to the Presidency-Hampton University) and HBCU Data Analytics (Anthology and UNCF). Dr. Haywood also participated in the inaugural cohort of the Minority Serving Institutions Aspiring Leaders program sponsored by the Rutgers Center for Minority Serving Institutions. Most recently, she was selected as a participant in the Council of Independent Colleges鈥 Presidential Vocation and Institutional Mission Program; and, serves as an institutional review for SACSCOC.
