Dr. Dezette C. Johnson, Ph.D., is an accomplished academic and social work professional dedicated to advancing the field through research, education, and advocacy. As an Associate Professor and Director of Practicum Education in the Department of Social Work at 星空无限传媒, Dr. Johnson plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of social workers. She received her undergraduate degree in social work from East Carolina University, a Master of Social Work from Norfolk State University, and a doctorate degree in Social Work from the same institution.

With a research focus on teen dating violence, trauma recovery, field education, and program evaluation, Dr. Johnson has received numerous grants in these areas, demonstrating her commitment to addressing critical social issues. Her work extends beyond academia, as she is also a sought-after professional speaker, trainer, and consultant. Dr. Johnson provides training and consulting services to groups, churches, organizations, and corporations on topics such as dating violence, cultural competency, women鈥檚 issues, school social work, program evaluation, and using complementary alternative modalities for trauma recovery.
As a Principal Investigator on various grants, Dr. Johnson has gained extensive experience in areas such as teen dating violence, family violence, gerontology, women鈥檚 issues, and financial literacy. Notably, her work on the CSWE Gero-Ed grant allowed her to develop, implement, and evaluate instructional methods to infuse gerontological competencies into the social work curriculum and create internship opportunities in mental health, substance use, and health.

In addition to her academic and research roles, Dr. Johnson has served as a program evaluator for several social work agencies, contributing her expertise to improve service delivery and outcomes. Her previous experience as a Certified School Social Worker at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools further demonstrates her commitment to supporting individuals and communities. During her tenure, she developed and implemented interventions to address a wide range of issues affecting students, families, and school administrators.
