Accomplished as a United States Air Force (USAF) Veteran Officer and MBA-educated business executive with industry-leading companies, John is also committed as an educator at 星空无限传媒. Recently, John co-developed, launched, and taught the first Historically Black College and University (HBCU) esports/gaming trifecta at 星空无限传媒, Charlotte, N.C. His corporate strategic partnerships include Riot Games, NBA 2K, Epic Games, Blizzard Entertainment, Twitch, Microsoft, Nacon, and HP. This has led to internship opportunities for JCSU students and national university recognition. Due to the program鈥檚 ongoing success, in 2022-2023, he assisted in securing a 5-year, six-figure Title III federal government allocation for the university and the esports/gaming trifecta.
John also serves as Chief Development Officer for The Cxmmunity Foundation, www.cxmmunity.co. Founded and led by HBCU graduates, this 501c3 launched the first and leading STEAM (esports/gaming education) pipeline program for marginalized k-12 and HBCU students. Cxmmunity Media is the for-profit arm focusing on digital media. In the fall of 2020, the organization founded and now manages the most successful HBCU Esports League in the country. To date, Cxmmunity has helped secure and distribute over $2.5 million dollars in scholarships, esports/gaming lab funding & buildout, league play programming, and k-12 and HBCU program/curricula. This includes the opportunity to provide scholarships to 25 female HBCU STEM students. In October 2022, under the leadership of Cxmmunity. John achieved a 鈥渂ucket list鈥 goal of leaving a legacy at his beloved HBCU alma mater, Howard University. During the month, he realized managing and activating the launch of the university鈥檚 esports/gaming program, which includes a state-of-the-art lab, interdisciplinary curriculum, and esports team. Sponsored by Verizon, this $200,000 program contribution is an initial investment the university can build upon.
John鈥檚 corporate experience includes executive-level positions with Learfield (IMG) Collegiate Sports, Bank of America, The Coca-Cola Company, and IMAGES USA. While at Coca-Cola, he managed budgets of up to $125 million. His business success includes launching and achieving EBITDA goals for the first two HBCU (historically black colleges and universities conferences) multi-media business initiatives; Learfield Collegiate (MEAC) and Van Wagner Sports and Entertainment (CIAA). Additional corporate agency accomplishments include managing Bank of America Multicultural Marketing and the Atlanta Football Classic initiatives, brand repositioning and launch of Sprite Zero (Coca-Cola) and growing the largest account portfolio for IMAGES USA Marketing and Advertising Agency (Wells Fargo (Wachovia), AARP, Teach for America, and Glory Foods).
John is also an accomplished business owner. As Managing Director of The Narmer Group, a strategic marketing and social impact agency, he has managed client goals, objectives, and strategies. The group has a foundation in marketing strategy and specializes in consumer and industry trends/analysis, sports, esports & entertainment, multi-media, education (STEAM k-12 and higher education), and government contracting. He is proud to have helped realize goals that include driving incremental revenue in a profitable manner while increasing brand equity for his clients.
His community service passions include supporting disabled veterans, youth education initiatives, and fraternal programs with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
A native of metropolitan Washington, D.C., John received his MBA from the University of Texas, MS from Webster University, and BBA from Howard University.
John is husband to Robin, father to Alaina, caregiver for his parents (father recently passed on April 27, 2023), and servant to all humankind.
