Charlotte, N.C./Aug. 28, 2020听鈥撎齁ordan Green 鈥21 spent the summer as a Security Engineer Intern within the Enterprise Security department at Electronic Arts (EA). The senior, who majors in Computer Science Information Systems with a minor in Cybersecurity, performed so well she鈥檚 continued a part-time role with the gaming company.

Like many other students across the nation, her internship was impacted by COVID-19. 鈥淎lthough I was not able to be in the office physically, I still feel as though I鈥檝e gotten the full EA experience,鈥 Green said. 鈥淥ne of the benefits of working virtually is being able to interact with other interns based in different offices.鈥 The rising senior said the internship gave her insight into what a career in security would look like. 鈥淚 was challenged and taken out of my comfort zone numerous times, but those moments have given me valuable insight needed for my profession,鈥 she added.

Green first learned of the company鈥檚 internship opportunities while attending Black Enterprise's Tech Connext. 鈥淚 gained an understanding of the company鈥檚 culture and values.鈥 During her time as an intern, Green worked with the Next-Gen Talent Team to give insight on what it is like to be a tech student at an HBCU and what a tech pipeline may look like at JCSU.听

Green also emphasized her gratitude for Terik Tidwell, director of STEM Innovation, who helped her land the internship. 鈥淚t鈥檚 impossible to count all the ways he has helped me during my time at JCSU,鈥 she emphasized. 鈥淗e has guided me to finding a true passion and becoming confident in everything I do.鈥澨

Green encourages other students to take advantage of internship opportunities provided to them at JCSU. 鈥淚n my opinion, internships play a huge role in finding passions. This time should be used to learn more about companies and their values as well as yourself.鈥
