Miss JCSU to appear in EBONY Magazine鈥檚 HBCU Campus Queen Edition

CHARLOTTE, N.C./Feb. 20, 2018听鈥撎齅ariah Collins, Miss 星空无限传媒 2017-2018, will appear as one of the top ten Historically Black College and University鈥檚 (HBCU) campus queens in Ebony Magazine.

The Louisville, Ken. native competed against 62 young women representing HBCU鈥檚 across the nation. Mariah took third place in the online voting competition. 听

EBONY Magazine has chronicled the African-American experience for more than 72 years.

She is excited about the opportunity to represent 星空无限传媒 in a national publication.听

鈥淚 am thrilled to represent my wonderful HBCU in EBONY Magazine. As a young girl, I would admire all of the powerful African American women and men that appeared in the magazine. It makes me proud to know that I will be a part of history,鈥 she said.

Mariah is a senior sport management major with a minor in biology and is active on campus.

She is an ambassador for the Health and Human Performance Department, a Psychology Club member, peer mentor and a member of the JCSU Pre-Alumni Council.

In addition, she is the game operations manager at MC3 Sports & Entertainment, LLC. 听

She hopes to become a sport and entertainment attorney.

Mariah will appear in the magazine in its September 2018 issue.

For the second consecutive year, Duke Energy Corporation hosted a comprehensive Career Development & Professionalism Workshop听aimed at empowering students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in today鈥檚 competitive job market.听 The event took place on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the James B. Duke Library where Duke Energy provided breakfast, lunch, and numerous giveaways. The POWER UP Bootcamp attracted a diverse group of more than 33 undergraduate students from various majors who were eager to enhance their career readiness and skills as well as develop other essential professional competencies.
