Tennis Programs Named ITA All-Academic Team, Six Players Honored as All-Academic Scholar-Athletes

CHARLOTTE, N.C./July 23, 2019 –ÌýThe ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ women's tennis team was named to the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team and six Golden Bulls earned individual ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, the ITA announced Thursday.ÌýThis year the Intercollegiate Tennis Association saw an increase in qualifying teams and scholar-athletes.ÌýAll-Academic honors were awarded to 940 teams and thousands of scholar-athletes.Ìý

JCSU women's team who earned All-Academic honors individual academic accolades areÌýAlisa Stevenson,ÌýAleena Oakley,ÌýAria Springfield,ÌýCierra Turner,ÌýJada StricklandÌýandÌýHalle Parker.

All-Academic teams boast a team GPA of 3.20 or higher. ITA scholar-athletes must meet the following criteria:Ìý1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).Ìý

For the second consecutive year, Duke Energy Corporation hosted a comprehensive Career Development & Professionalism WorkshopÌýaimed at empowering students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in today’s competitive job market.Ìý The event took place on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the James B. Duke Library where Duke Energy provided breakfast, lunch, and numerous giveaways. The POWER UP Bootcamp attracted a diverse group of more than 33 undergraduate students from various majors who were eager to enhance their career readiness and skills as well as develop other essential professional competencies.
