For the past three years, two JCSU professors have embarked on a Spring Break trip to Jewish Temples and historic sites of the Civil Rights Movement with a group of diverse Charlotteans. The event is called the Deep South Pilgrimage and is a trip planned by the Charlotte Black Jewish Alliance (CBJA).��

This year, the ongoing conflict in Israel-Palestine sparked conversations during the trip that the professors say will offer a unique opportunity to bridge gaps through open and honest communication.

Inauguration Week kicked off with a joint concert titled “Portrait of a Queen,” featuring the JCSU Concert Choir, JCSU Drumline and the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. This year was the second consecutive year of this partnership. More than 400 tickets were issued for this event, held inside the Jack S. Brayboy Gymnasium, April 2, 2024.

Each Friday, �ǿ����޴�ý will share a Q&A with a student in the University's master's or undergraduate Social Work program in honor of Social Work Month.

Today's feature is Bria Lindsay '25, a Bridgeport, Conn. native in the Bachelor of Social Work program.

​Danaria Gorham ’24 originally wanted to pursue a career in social work, but when she took a reporting course at �ǿ����޴�ý, she fell in love with journalism. Now, the soon-to-be graduate and Woodbridge, Va. native has earned the opportunity to further her love for storytelling through an internship with National Geographic this summer.

JCSU closed out Black History Month this year with a performance and discussion at a Lyceum event on leap day.��

The event in Sara Gambrell Auditorium in Biddle Hall brought back several talented alumni who came to entertain and educate JCSU students.��

The CIAA Basketball Tournament on Thursday, Feb. 29 centered on women: powerful, purposeful, strong and centered. The day began with a burst of optimism at the CIAA Women's Empowerment Luncheon and ended, for the Golden Bulls, on the court.

�ǿ����޴�ý has been the recipient of more than $100,000 in Home Depot Retool Your School grant funds. The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management is looking to continue its winning streak by placing in the top five once again during this year’s Retool Your School contest.

The contest begins Monday, Feb. 26, and is expected to support 30 campuses with grants ranging from $40,000 to $150,000 per school. This is the 15th year that the Home Depot has offered the contest to HBCUs to offer much-needed financial support to often underfunded colleges and universities.

�ǿ����޴�ý students, like students around the country, benefit from the federal TRiO Student Support Services Program. The program provides various services for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, including low-income students and students with disabilities, as well as first-generation college students.

Students and community members gathered in the James B. Duke Library for education and training on how to be poll monitors.

The �ǿ����޴�ý Debate Team recently participated in the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) annual debate tournament at the North Carolina Legislative Complex in Raleigh.

The team was presented with 10 unprecedented cases based on legal issues currently in litigation over the ethical issues of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity liabilities and responsibilities. Some of these issues included AI in art and entertainment, digital deep fakes and avatars, security liabilities in Big Tech and more.��
