The excitement of college can sometimes turn to stress if we are not careful. Dean Anita Bledsoe-Gardner of the JCSU College of Liberal Arts, had an idea that would offer respite for the tired mind and stressed soul. It鈥檚 called the Zen Den, and it鈥檚 located inside the Edward E. Crutchfield Center for Integrated Studies on the JCSU campus.听

She wanted to move beyond rudimentary academic treatment to a discussion that would honor the musicality of authentic Cape Verdean voices.听 She wanted to write a book, her second, that would honor the depth of history and cultural expression of her people.听

Admissions Officer Gia Wright Named as Central Region Representative for College Transfer Program Association

There are many different reasons why students choose to transfer. They may have taken their introductory classes at a community college, or they could have learned that the first institution they committed to wasn鈥檛 meeting their needs.

At 星空无限传媒, Gia Wright is available to assist students as an Articulation and Transfer Coordinator. In her role, she helps admit students who come to JCSU from other institutions and also helps students who come to JCSU as part of an articulation agreement with community colleges around the country.

Ryan Thurman began his higher-education career at 星空无限传媒 less than two years ago. Since then, he鈥檚 made an unforgettable impression on any student he meets. This Summer, the admissions counselor was named the Recruiter of the Year by the National College Resources Foundation (NCRF) and the Black College Expo.

On Monday, May 6, 2024 Dr. Laurie Porter, Dr. Sabina Otienoburu, JCSU students Ashley Hall 鈥24 and Taylor Dobson 鈥24 spoke before a small group of JCSU administrators and staff.听Each member of the group shared evidence in support of institutional reparations for the University.听听

McFadden Talks Success at Founders鈥 Day Convocation

The Class of 2024, donned in their ceremonial commencement robes, took one of their final walks from Biddle Hall to the Jane M. Smith Memorial Church for the annual Founders鈥 Day Convocation.

This year celebrates the 157th anniversary of JCSU鈥檚 founding on April 7, 1867. Surrounded by faculty, staff, alumni and friends, the soon-to-be graduates listened attentively to JCSU alumnus Garry L. McFadden 鈥81, the sheriff for Mecklenburg County, as he recounted some of the successes from his career.

JCSU Women鈥檚 Basketball Rally for First Win at 2024 CIAA Tournament

It's a balance of athletics and education at the CIAA Tournament in Baltimore. When they're not at the CFG Stadium cheering on the Golden Bulls, the brigade of student leaders, including the SGA, Mister and Miss JCSU and the royal court - along with Admissions and Student Affairs staff - are inspiring young, bright high school students with dreams of going to college, possibly JCSU! If the energy at听College Education Day at the Baltimore Convention Center is any indication of the interest level among Baltimore high school students, JCSU can expect a flood of new applicants for the 2024-25 school year.

JCSU Esports Club Continues 132-Year-Old Rivalry Against Livingstone College

The first football meeting of two Historically Black Colleges (HBCUs) was held on December 27, 1892, between Livingstone College (LC) and 星空无限传媒 (JCSU), which was known then as Biddle College. Almost 132 years later, the rivalry between these two institutions remains formidable to this day. JCSU won the first HBCU football game in 1892.

To continue this rival legacy, the Esports Clubs at both JCSU and LC, will converge on the electronic gridiron in the inaugural JCSU Esports Commemorative Classic on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024.
