星空无限传媒鈥檚 College of Business and Professional Studies is pleased to announce that its Esports and Gaming Trifecta, the first of its kind at an HBCU, has been invited by Discovery Place Science in Charlotte, N.C., to host an informational session, specifically on esports and gaming at its 鈥淪cience on the Rocks鈥 event, which is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, from 6 to 10 p.m.听
The workshop, titled 鈥溞强瘴尴薮解檚 Esports & Gaming Trifecta presents Esports & Gaming 101: A Complete Guide to Gaming,鈥 will cover pertinent topics related to gaming. The workshop will be held from 6 to 7 p.m.

Real-life JCSU 鈥淒rumline鈥 Couple Use Foundation to Fund HBCU Bands
星空无限传媒 has been a meeting ground for several lifelong friends, spouses and business partners. But for Frank and La Keisha Johnson, it was where they formed their love for not only one another but also their love for HBCU marching bands. In 2018, the couple decided to tackle a cause that was important to both of them: providing monies for scholarships for HBCU band students and athletes through their HBCU Culture Legacy Foundation.听
Breast Cancer Study to Take In-Depth Look at Mastectomy Experiences of Older Black Women
鈥婦r. Harriette Richard is no stranger to the challenges of breast cancer. As a three-time survivor of the disease, the JCSU associate professor of Psychology decided she wanted to explore the effect the disease has on older African-American women.
Richard was awarded a $100,000 grant from Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health to further research the connections between body image and breast cancer, specifically in the experiences of older adult African-American women鈥檚 mastectomy experiences.

The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management kicked off Homecoming week with the unveiling of the newly renovated Bull Pen, a student hangout space in the Mary Joyce Taylor Crisp Student Union.

The staff will be led by Dr. Tomisha Brock, director of Bands and assistant professor of Music. She will be assisted by Justin Hubbard, assistant director; Aja McAllister, dance instructor; Dairon McGraw, flag coordinator; and Ronnie Freeman, percussion instructor.

The Department of Counseling Services at 星空无限传媒 was recently awarded the Garrett Lee Smith Suicide Prevention Awareness Grant to address mental health concerns on campus.
Tierra Parsons, director of Counseling Services at JCSU, says the nearly $300,000 grant will help the campus take a proactive approach to mental health. The grant announcement came just one day before the start of National Suicide Prevention Month, which began Sept. 1. 听

JCSU to Host Panel on the Palestinian Humanitarian Crisis
While most teenagers headed off to high school excited to see their friends and learn something new, Obaida Mohammad and his siblings were stopped daily at Israeli checkpoint crossings in Israel-Palestine.听Mohammad and his fellow Palestinians experienced and continue to experience much more traumatic inconveniences than checkpoints. Through his lived experience of midnight raids of villages and homes, arrests without cause and extreme military presence and oversight, Mohammad decided it was time to start discussing the humanitarian crisis that is the continual displacement of the Palestinian people.

Hundreds of new Golden Bulls joined together Thursday morning in the Jane M. Smith Memorial Church for Freshman Convocation.
The convocation, which is a rite of passage for all new Smithites entering the storied University, featured the bestowing of cords and pins as new students recited the honor code and received official greetings from their elected student leaders, administration and Dr. Valerie Kinloch, 15th president of JCSU.

Kinloch Stresses the Importance of Community During Inaugural Lyceum Engagement Series Presentation
The pews were packed in the Jane M. Smith Memorial Church Thursday as 星空无限传媒 kicked off its inaugural Lyceum Engagement Series with a public address from Dr. Valerie Kinloch, the 15th president of JCSU.
Kinloch shared her strategic vision for the University with the crowd, which was comprised of faculty, staff, alumni, community members and student groups, including the entire IIOS Marching Band and Golden Bulls Football team.
