After an extensive national search, �ǿ����޴�ý announces the appointment of Dr. Nicole McDonald as senior vice president for Transformation Initiatives (SVPTI). As SVPTI, she will lead and manage the development and execution of a comprehensive transformation agenda to support the University’s Gold(en) Blueprint strategic plan. McDonald comes to JCSU from University of Houston, where she served as assistant vice provost for Student Success Strategies. She begins her tenure at �ǿ����޴�ý.

Nearly 80 volunteers spent their Saturday renovating Greenfield Gardens, a project made possible by the $30,000 grant from the 2021 Retool Your School competition presented by Home Depot.


“I was so humbled by the people who came out,” said Dr. Davida L. Haywood, vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. “We really are stronger together. We are one community and, when we put our minds to something, we can achieve great things.”

Justin Nixon ’25 may only be a rising sophomore in the Political Science program at JCSU, but his determination and excellence in the classroom earned him recognition from a national organization and a seat in an internship on Capitol Hill.

Nixon was featured in the Summer 2022 issue of The Educated Mentor, an official publication of The Collegiate Black Male Network.

Hundreds of guests gathered at Knight Theater Wednesday to discuss diversity in golf as a part of the Charlie Sifford Centennial celebration and to kick off the week-long Presidents Cup tournament.

As a part of the diversity, equity and inclusion discussion, President Clarence D. Armbrister and Miss JCSU Essence Winston joined Florida Sen. Shevrin Jones to discuss the importance of including HBCUs in partnerships and employment pipelines to further diversity, not just in the golfing industry, but all facets of business.

Tami B. Simmons, JCSU’s vice president for Institutional Advancement, is slated to speak on a four-person panel discussing nonprofit best practices this week.

The panel is presented by PNC Institutional Asset Management and will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Mint Museum, located at 2730 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC 28207.

�ǿ����޴�ý had the distinct honor of hosting the Charlie Sifford Centennial Cup at Quail Hollow Country Club on Monday.

�ǿ����޴�ý set a goal to become a top 10 HBCU in the coming years.

According to U.S. News and World Report, the University is four steps closer to reaching its goal.

More than 250 new Golden Bulls received their chord and pin Thursday during Freshman convocation, a JCSU tradition that marks the official welcome of new Smithites into the herd.��

The Gambrell family continued its long history of support by announcing a $1.8 million gift to �ǿ����޴�ý during an event on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

The event also celebrated an announcement from the Mayor’s Racial Equity Initiative. �ǿ����޴�ý’s workstream has surpassed its $80 million fundraising goal thanks to the Gambrell Foundation gift. It is the first of four workstreams to meet and surpass its fundraising goal.

Nearly 40 percent of college-aged students are considered low-income and, as a result, experience issues such as food insecurity.��

Dr. Cathy Jones, dean of Students, and the entire student affairs team work closely to assure students’ needs are met. Thankfully, �ǿ����޴�ý has the Golden Bulls General Market, currently located in Davis House, which provides food and general care products to University students.��
