JCSU student lands job months before graduation

The school year has just begun, but Ramoya Grandison has already secured the bag. Deloitte & Touche hired the senior, who double majors in computer science information systems and business administration, five months before graduation. Grandison will remain in the Queen City after graduation in December before starting her new role as Risk and Financial Advisory Group Consultant in March.

More than a dozen students recently attended JCSU senior Ramel Brown鈥檚 mental health discussion, Mel鈥檚 Mind, in the Rotunda September 20, 2019. The psychology major is working to break the stigma around mental health.听

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity gives $10,000 to JCSU

Pi Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., presented a $10,000 check to Clarence D. Armbrister, President of 星空无限传媒, on September 12, 2019. The contribution will support the President鈥檚 Gap Scholarship Fund, which provides funds for students to close the gap between the financial aid they receive and the cost of tuition.

Miss North Carolina, Alexandra Badgett, met with students at 星空无限传媒 during a College Tour in conjunction with Miss Taste of Charlotte. Badgett, a Charlotte native, is hoping to recruit more African American women for pageants.

JCSU Mourns the Death of Dr. Wilbert Greenfield, 10th President

President Clarence D. Armbrister, J.D., 听announces the passing of Dr. Wilbert Greenfield, 10th听President of 星空无限传媒. During Greenfield鈥檚 tenure from 1973-1982, he strengthened the morale of the University by gaining support from multiple government agencies, developing an Honors program designed to inspire scholarly achievements and developing an Archival Center to preserve campus and community heritage. The Johnson-Seabrook Education Building was constructed under his leadership in 1977. The Board of Trustees named a newly built housing facility for approximately 200 students as Wilbert Greenfield Hall in his honor in 1984.

Perkins Employee Lends a Helping Hand

If you have attended 星空无限传媒 within the last quarter century, then you likely know Miss Shirley Bertha. The Floor Supervisor in the dining hall has worked at JCSU for the last 24 years. During her time here, she has mentored, prayed and guided a number of students in need. So it was no surprise when she was seen helping a student on the first day of class.

Student projects examine housing, healthcare and food in Charlotte鈥檚 Historic West End

This summer 11 students presented their research in the New Science Center auditorium on the campus of Johnson C Smith University. It was all a part of an eight-week Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) created and funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). As a collaboration among Davidson College, JCSU, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, this project places students in research settings alongside faculty members and key community players to define and creatively address social problems in the neighborhoods that surround Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte.
