Dr. Denisha Hendricks is returning to �ǿ����޴�ý as the new Director of Athletics (AD) and as �ǿ����޴�ýing Associate Professor of Sport Management (non-tenure-track). Her appointment is effective May 1, 2024.

�ǿ����޴�ý’s College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) took strides in early February to educate students about STEM education during its first STEM Awareness Workshop. The workshop gathered speakers from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Stanley Community College, North Carolina State University and JCSU, who discussed the importance of building a diverse future for the field of STEM.

�ǿ����޴�ý and the College of Business and Professional Studies recently received a $15,000 gift from accomplished alumnus Kenneth A. Goodwin Jr. '96 and his wife Rosalind Panda. The couple made the donation as a way to support Goodwin’s alma mater; the vision of Dr. Alphonso Ogbuehi, dean of the College of Business and Professional Studies; and the vision of Dr. Valerie Kinloch, the 15th President of �ǿ����޴�ý.��

The Duke Endowment made a big announcement last week: a $175 million gift to the four colleges and universities named in the Duke Indenture of Trust. �ǿ����޴�ý is among them, celebrating a $25 million gift today. The Duke Endowment also announces��$25 million grants to Davidson College and Furman University. A��$100 million centennial gift to Duke was shared in November.

Many Golden Bulls started their Thursday morning with soulful songs, a warm plate of food and wise words from Civil Rights icon, Harvey Gantt, during the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast.

The event was moderated by Dr. Jordan Brooks, associate vice president of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and Title IX Coordinator. The event kicked off with greetings from Dr. Valerie Kinloch ’96, president of JCSU.

With spring graduation and summer break right around the corner, Christian Varnado, assistant director for the Smith Institute for Research, Career Development and Post-Graduate Readiness, says there’s no better time to begin preparing for a successful career.

The 2024 Golden Bull Academy New Student Orientation was in full effect on Friday, January 5th inside �ǿ����޴�ý’s Mary Joyce Taylor Crisp Student Union - Grimes Lounge.��The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management hosted the event for nearly 30 new and transfer students, plus their families. ��Students received a rousing welcome and a first dose of Golden Bull Pride!

Kenyatta Reed, program and tutorial coordinator in Student Support Services at �ǿ����޴�ý, knows first-hand the challenges and opportunities first-generation college students face.

Today, Reed and her colleagues in TRiO Student Support Services work to assist and celebrate other first-generation college students as they embark on their journeys through higher education and work to secure profitable careers doing what they love.

The University Innovation Fellows program empowers students to become agents of change at their schools. Fellows work alongside a faculty or staff representative to ensure all students gain the attitudes, skills and knowledge required to navigate a complex world and build the future.
