Dr.��Felesia Stukes��is becoming a trailblazer in the world of data science, especially for women, minorities and HBCUs. In January 2021, Stukes was awarded the IBM Academic Award for Social Computing Command Center: Innovating Undergraduate Data Science Curriculum.��

Dr. Jemayne King is spreading knowledge about the importance of HBCUs in America this Black History Month. King’s article, The Soul of a Nation: The Past, Present, and Continuing Importance of The Historically Black College and University, was recently published on��TheBestSchools.org.

Alumna Latanya Dilligard ’92 is providing a boost to a couple of current JCSU students excelling in the classroom. She recently awarded Crystal Howard ’21 and Javyion Jenkins ’21 each a $500 scholarship for the spring 2021 semester.

�ǿ����޴�ý is one of a dozen colleges and universities named by the Council of Independent Colleges to serve as an Institutional Affiliate for the multiyear project, “Legacies of American Slavery: Reckoning with the Past.”

Congresswoman Alma Adams, Ph.D., continues to be a champion for Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and for the 12th Congressional District, in which �ǿ����޴�ý resides. To ensure HBCUs are properly funded, in 2015 she founded the Congressional Bipartisan Historically Black Colleges and Universities Caucus, which has more than 100 Congressional members.

�ǿ����޴�ý is making a name for itself in the Esports and gaming world. The University’s Esports and Gaming club recently won the HBCU Esports League’s Fall Classic Call of Duty (COD): Black Ops Cold War Tournament after defeating Morgan State University.

Dr. Felesia Stukes, �ǿ����޴�ý Assistant Professor of Computer Science, and faculty from five collaborating HBCUs are building a consortium of data science and business analytics researchers, scholars and industry partners designed to inspire and extend a culture of academic development and research collaborations across the region, state, and ultimately, the nation.��

Today, in celebration of Computer Science Education Week, �ǿ����޴�ý announced it will become a community center for Coding and Creativity as part of Apple’s Community Education Initiative and Tennessee State University’s HBCU C2 initiative designed to bring coding and creativity experiences to historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and their communities.

The global pandemic has not put a damper on the Christmas spirit at �ǿ����޴�ý. The University is moving forward with the annual Evening with Santa event hosted by the Department of Residence Life.

Hundreds of people lined up to receive a pair of free shoes at �ǿ����޴�ý Saturday, December 5, 2020. It was all a part of��Charlotte Cares, an event created by non-profit Samaritan’s Feet aimed at distributing shoes across the community this holiday season.
