Three ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ graduates working at Microsoft are paying it forward to current STEM students. Aisha Davis ’13, Bernard Smith ’17 and Darnell Harris ‘11 started a virtual seminar for students to increase the number of JCSU graduates Microsoft hires.

Two recent graduates are excelling in their new roles with American Airlines. Winstongabriel Douglas ‘20 and Zabdiel Escanola Gonzalez ‘20 started with the company in June, just one month after graduation.

The pandemic has disproportionately impacted people of color in more ways than one. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Black and Latino Americans have contracted, been hospitalized and died from the virus at a significantly higher rate than Caucasian Americans. Compounded with the challenges of being a college student, navigating through these times can be a burden. JCSU faculty and staff continue to assist with students’ overall health in unique ways.

Tymier Farrar ‘21 is just two semesters away from graduation, but the business administration major is already getting professional experience for his future career as anÌýentrepreneur.ÌýThis summer he interned in the business law and customer relation sectors with Brighthouse Financial.

Crystal Howard ‘21 just began her senior year, but the computer science information systems major has already secured a job with Bank of America. The news comes following her summer 2020, 10-week internship with the company.

Deben Peterson ‘21 is fresh off his internship with Lockheed Martin Space. The rising senior, who received the highest clearance with the company, spent part of his summer working with the company’s satellite simulation to help debug flight software before launch.

IBM is announcing its first IBM Quantum education and research initiative for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), aimed at driving a diverse and inclusive quantum workforce.

North Carolina is home to five private HBCUs and ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ has been listed as the highest-ranked among them according to the 2021ÌýU.S. News and World Report.

ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ is recognized as a top 25 HBCU in higher education according to new data released from College Raptor. According to the site, out of the over 100 HBCUs still operating today in America, JCSU is one of the strongest institutions of the bunch.

Jordan Green ’21 spent the summer as a Security Engineer Intern within the Enterprise Security department at Electronic Arts (EA). The senior, who majors in Computer Science Information Systems with a minor in Cybersecurity, performed so well she’s continued a part-time role with the gaming company.
