Jordan Green ’21 spent the summer as a Security Engineer Intern within the Enterprise Security department at Electronic Arts (EA). The senior, who majors in Computer Science Information Systems with a minor in Cybersecurity, performed so well she’s continued a part-time role with the gaming company.

The pandemic didn’t stop Alexys Gabriel ‘22 from gaining experience needed to fulfill her dreams of a job on Capitol Hill. The junior, who majors in business administration with a concentration in marketing, spent the summer as a congressional intern in the House of Representatives, dividing her time between Representative Alma Adams [NC-D-12] and Representative Mark Walker [NC-R-06].

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced life to change for so many of us. Despite the additional stresses the pandemic has had on our lives, many people have been able to unite for good causes, including our alumni who have donated to the �ǿ����޴�ý in many ways. Most recently, by offering words of advice to current students.

On Friday, June 5, 2020 Lelia Jackson ‘20 and her daughter Kneadee Lester-Jackson ‘20 both received their diplomas from President Clarence D. Armbrister during �ǿ����޴�ý’s diploma pick-up.

“I couldn't have made a better decision,” said Andrew Alexander ’15 while reflecting on his journey at �ǿ����޴�ý. “I was very happy with the idea of being able to go to college, an HBCU at that, in the city of Charlotte that's close to my family so they can watch me play.”

Gracyn Doctor ‘16 was enjoying the summer before beginning her senior year at JCSU when bullets from the white supremacist’s gun changed her life forever. Doctor’s mother, Rev. DePayne Middleton-Doctor, was one of the nine parishioners killed in the massacre at Emanuel AME Church.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges for higher education, especially for faculty members and students, who have been forced to teach and learn online.��

�ǿ����޴�ý announces the appointment of Dr. Vijaya L. Gompa as dean of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. She currently serves as professor of Mathematics and she served as head of the Department of Mathematical, Computing and Information Sciences at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Ala. Gompa was selected after an extensive national search and will begin her tenure at JCSU on June 1, 2020.

In March, the COVID-19 pandemic forced JCSU to move to remote learning for the remainder of the semester and restrict campus access to essential employees. Students living on campus were required to vacate. While the majority returned home to their families, not all students have that option. Tawanda Nyahasha ’20 is one of a handful of students, who with JCSU permission and supervision, remain on campus.

�ǿ����޴�ý is making every effort possible to help students during the COVID-19 pandemic. April 21, 2020 the campus food pantry, Single Stop, resumed its operations in an effort to assist students during this crisis.��
